DAWSON IS STANDING OVER JOEY WATCHING HER SLEEP. JOEY STARTS TO STIR.

JOEY: (opens eyes) Morning….what time is it?

DAWSON: It's 6: 30 am.

JOEY: What are you doing up?

DAWSON: I couldn't sleep…it's this thing with Jack.

JOEY: Oh.

DAWSON: That’s all you have to say is oh?

JOEY: What do you want me to say?

DAWSON: That I have nothing to worry about…..things are fine….etc.

JOEY: You have nothing to worry about…things are fine…etc…feel better now?

DAWSON: Actually….no. I had a really weird dream last night.

JOEY: What about?

DAWSON: You and Jack…I don’t trust him Jo.

JOEY: I think that’s probably wise.

DAWSON: He’s going to be trouble.

JOEY: I get it Dawson…could we please not dwell on this?

DAWSON: It’s just that….

JOEY: I know…he’s trouble…your worried…I can handle myself Dawson.

CUT TO CAPESIDE HIGH. PACEY IS AT HIS LOCKER. JOEY AND DAWSON WALK IN.

PACEY: Hola Amigo…Amiga….Como…esta….oh hell how are you today?

JOEY: Somebody didn’t study for the Spanish test…did we?

PACEY: It’s not like I’m ever gonna need it.

ANDIE AND JACK WALK INTO HALL. JACK STARES STRAIGHT AT JOEY…JOEY AVERTS HERGAZE.

ANDIE: (kisses Pacey) Hey…morning.

PACEY: Morning beautiful.

JOEY: Okay….gag.

ANDIE: (laughs) Jo….are you jealous?

JOEY: More like nauseous.

PACEY: Sorry Jo…but even your sour disposition can’t get me down….when this gorgeous woman is by my side.

JACK CONTINUES TO WALK PAST AND RUNS INTO JEN.

JACK: Hey…did you think about my proposition?

JEN: You mean to break up Dawson and Joey?

JACK: Yes…you in or out?

JEN: What makes you so sure you could?JACK: Instinct….I got you didn’t I?

JEN: A mistake I live to regret.

JACK: Jen…I know when someone wants me…and Joey wants me.

JEN: I think your wrong…Joey loves Dawson.

JACK: I don’t care if she loves him…..she can love him all she wants…she wants me.

JEN: Did something happen with you two?

JACK: Let’s just say the game has begun….and we are rounding first base.

JEN: (shocked) First base?….first base….you mean you….you kissed Joey?

JACK: And the winner is Jen Lindley….for a correct answer to question numberone.

JEN: Your lying.

JACK: What purpose would I have for lying…ask her yourself.

JEN: When? When did you kiss her….she was with Dawson all last night.

JACK: If you learn one thing from me Jen…this is it…Never underestimate me. I have ways.

JEN: I’m still not sure I believe you.

JACK: Like I said…ask her yourself…It’s her secret…not mine…I’ll tell anyone who asks.

CUT TO DAWSON STANDING OUTSIDE COOKING CLASS KISSING JOEY. BELL RINGS.

JOEY: (pulling away) I’ve gotta go Dawson…bell.

DAWSON: (still kissing Jo) Bell?…I don’t hear a bell.

JOEY: That’s because your overcharged testosterone has made you deaf….I gotta go Dawson. I’ll see you at lunch.

JEN WALKS INTO CLASS PAST JOEY AND DAWSON.

DAWSON: Ok…see you in the lunch room…my treat.

JOEY: Careful Dawson…your going to max out your cafeteria card.

DAWSON LAUGHS AND WALKS AWAY. CUT TO INT. OF COOKING CLASS. JEN AND JOEY ARE PARTNERED. JOEY IS TYING ON HER APRON.

JEN: So Jo…I’ve got kind of a curious question for you.

JOEY: What is it?

JEN: Did you like kissing Jack?

JOEY: (startled) What?

JEN: So it’s true then.

JOEY: What are you getting at Jen?

JEN: Jack told me you two kissed…I thought he was lying.

JOEY: He was lying.

JEN: I don’t think so…you should see the look on your face…it’s a dead giveaway Jo.

JOEY: Look Jen…I don’t know what delusions Jack is suffering but…

JUST THEN JACK ENTERS CLASS. TEACHER MRS. FINEGOLD TAKES A PAPER FROM HIM.MRS. FINEGOLD WALKS OVER TO JEN AND JOEY.

MRS. FINEGOLD: Jennifer and Josephine this is Jack McPhee…he’ll be joining your group.

MRS. FINEGOLD WALKS AWAY. JACK IS LEFT STANDING WITH JEN AND JOEY.

JACK: So…what are we cooking?

JOEY: This is not happening….you are not here.

JACK: Fraid so.

JOEY: Jack this is a cooking class.

JACK: Men cook.

JOEY: Why are you doing this to me?

JACK: Doing what exactly?

JOEY: Following me around like some weird…stalker.

JACK: You know Josephine….your ego is really something. I joined this class to get to know Jen better.

JOEY: Sure you did.

JEN: It’s true Jo….I asked him to.

JOEY: Fine…not that I believe either one of you…but I hope for your sake Jack that’s the truth.

JACK AND JEN GO OVER TO THE LITTLE KITCHEN AREA AND START PREPARATIONS FORCOOKING.CUT TO DAWSON IN BIOLOGY WITH PACEY.

DAWSON: So you and Andie look pretty cozy.

PACEY: I know it’s like somebody is finally on my side.

DAWSON: You really like her?

PACEY: Like you would not believe Leery….she’s a godsend.

DAWSON: Well at least one McPhee isn’t a bad seed.

PACEY: You still worried about Jack?

DAWSON: Completely. I mean Jo and my relationship is so new….what if she decides she likes him?

PACEY: Dawson….please Joey has been in love with you since birth…Jack is just a speedbump.

DAWSON: A charismatic….good looking….experienced speedbump.

PACEY: Careful Dawson….I think you’re falling for him.

DAWSON: (gives evil glare) Very funny Pacey.

CUT TO JEN AND JACK IN CAFETERIA SITTING AT LUNCH TABLE.

JEN: If I’m going to help you Jack…I want details.

JACK: Details?

JEN: Yes…when did you kiss Joey?

JACK: Last night…under the moonlight.

JEN: I’m still having a hard time believing this.

JACK: It’s merely phase one…phase two is a little more complicated…making her actually want to kiss me.

JEN: She didn’t want to kiss you? I’m confused.

JACK: It doesn’t matter…pay attention…this is how we begin phase two. CUT TO JOEY, DAWSON, PACEY AND ANDIE ENTERING CAFETERIA. JOEY SEES JACK ANDSTOPS ABRUPTLY PACEY WHO IS GAZING AT ANDIE RUNS INTO HER.

PACEY: Whoa….sorry Jo. I didn’t realize you had put the brakes on.

JOEY: (turns to Dawson) Why don’t we eat outside instead?

DAWSON: Okay…..but we still need to buy the food.

JOEY Right the food. Can’t have lunch with out it.DAWSON: Is something wrong Jo?

JOEY: No…I’m fine.

WE SEE JOEY RE-LIVING THE NIGHT’S PREVIOUS KISS WITH JACK IN HER HEAD.

JOEY: I’m really not very hungry…I’ll just wait for you outside.

JOEY TURNS AND EXITS CAFETERIA.DAWSON: (shouts after her) Joey…wait.

ANDIE: Actually Dawson…do you mind if I go after her?

DAWSON: I think I should.

PACEY: Let Andie do it Dawson.

ANDIE TURNS AND EXITS CAFETERIA. JACK SEES THIS.

JACK: Just great.

JEN: What?

JACK: Andie has her hero hat on again…I gotta go.

JACK EXITS CAFETERIA AFTER ANDIE.

JACK: Andie…wait.

ANDIE HEARS JACK BUT KEEPS WALKING. JACK CATCHES UP WITH HER.

JACK: Didn’t you hear me? I said wait.

ANDIE: I heard you.

JACK: Will you please stop walking?

ANDIE: (turns on Jack) Why? So you can convince me that I have no business in your private life?

JACK: For starters.

ANDIE: Or better yet…that you actually really like Joey…and it’s not about the challenge this time?

JACK: Andie I do like her.

ANDIE: Save it Jackson! We have been playing this game far too long. I know your motives.

JACK: So you know my motives…so what.

ANDIE: I’m not going to let you do it this time Jack.

JACK: Why do you care? This doesn’t concern you.

ANDIE: That’s where your wrong. Capeside is our home now Jack. Like it or not…were stuck here.

JACK: I’m still unclear as to what your point is here Andrea?

ANDIE: Jack…these are my friends lives that your messing around with. I like these people….I don’t want to see them hurt.

JACK: But you don’t care about your own brother?

ANDIE: Don’t Jack…the guilt trip is not going to work this time.

JACK: Andie…I’m sorry if you don’t’ approve of my choice of future girlfriend material…but this is my decision to make…not yours.

ANDIE: It’s no use trying to reason with you Jack…so I’ll spell it out for you. Joey is off limits and as of now my new best friend. I am prepared to do everything in my power to keep you away from her…starting with your job at the icehouse.

JACK: What about my Job?

ANDIE: You’ll see…don’t say I didn’t try to make this easier for you though…Bye Jack.

ANDIE HEADS OUT TO FIND JOEY AND FINDS HER SITTING BY A BIG OAK TREE IN THEQUAD.

ANDIE: Hey stranger.

JOEY IS VISIBLY UPSET.

JOEY: Andie…hi. What are you doing out here?

ANDIE: Looking for you?

JOEY: Looking for me? Why?

ANDIE: Because I know you need to talk to someone.

JOEY: I’m fine Andie…really.

ANDIE: Joey….I’m gonna make this really easy for you. I know what happened with you and Jack last night.

JOEY: (stunned) You do?

ANDIE: Not the gory details…just the pattern.

JOEY: What pattern?

ANDIE: Jack’s pattern. Did he show up at your house?

JOEY: Dawson’s.

ANDIE: Even better…While you were sleeping right?

JOEY: Yes…How did you know?

ANDIE: Joey I have lots of valuable information that I can share with you.

JOEY: I’m so confused Andie.

ANDIE: Confused?

JOEY: Yeah…no offense Andie… I loath your brother…but last night when he kissed me….

ANDIE: He kissed you?

JOEY: Wait…I thought you said you knew what happened?

ANDIE: That’s just a little bit faster than normal…I’m sorry….go on.

JOEY: It’s just…I mean it was different somehow.

ANDIE: I take it that it was a fairly passionate kiss then?

JOEY: Yes…god I’m so angry with myself…Andie I would never admit this to Jack…but I really liked it. It was….for lack of a better word…intoxicating.

ANDIE: Wow…okay well this is worse than I thought…Not hopeless though.

JOEY: Has this ever happened to you?

ANDIE: Too many times to count. But we’ll save that story for another time. Right now were here to help you.

JOEY: What should I do? Should I just stay away from him?

ANDIE: No…that’s what he expects…for you to be so uncomfortable around him that you avoid him.

JOEY: Then what?

ANDIE: Be his friend.

JOEY: Have you been sniffing glue or something? That’s the last thing I want to do.

ANDIE: Joey it’s all about the challenge for Jack…if you’re not a challenge….he may just get bored and give up.

JOEY: I don’t know Andie…it’s seems risky.

ANDIE: Not if I’m around.

JOEY: You can’t be with me 24-7. ANDIE: No…but I can increase the odds in my favor.

JOEY: How?

ANDIE: Well I’m already in the same class that you two share…

JOEY: Not the cooking class.

ANDIE: Cooking class?

JOEY: Yeah…he joined my cooking class today?

ANDIE: That should be comical…Jack can’t even boil water without burning it.

JOEY: He said he joined it to get to know Jen better.

ANDIE: Right….and if you believe that I hear Santa Claus is looking for some new elves.

JOEY: So he did join it because of me?

ANDIE: That would be my guess.

JOEY: But Jen told me it was true.

ANDIE: Joey…I’m going to try and be as delicate here as I can but…wake up girl! I wouldn’t be surprised if Jack has somehow gotten Jen to help him out.

JOEY: Why?

ANDIE: All the obvious reasons. Jen want’s Dawson and your presence makes that impossible.

JOEY: I can’t believe she would do that?…Well actually yes I can.

ANDIE: So do you want my help?

JOEY: Yes…what do I need to do.

ANDIE: Well first…(fades out) CUT TO DAWSON AND PACEY IN CAFERTERIA. JEN WALKS OVER TO THEM.

JEN: Hey.

DAWSON: Jen…Hi.

JEN: What’s up with Joey?

DAWSON: I’m not exactly sure. What are you doing with Jack?

JEN: Just making friends.

PACEY: Friends? Jen do you really think Jack knows how to be a friend?

JEN: Maybe not…but he’s there. Everyone else has seen fit to desert me.

DAWSON: Jen we haven’t deserted you. I just didn’t know how comfortable you would be around me and Joey.

JEN: Or how comfortable Joey would be around me…right?

DAWSON: It’s not like that Jen.

JEN: Face it Dawson…it’s exactly like that. I have to go.JEN WALKS AWAY.

CUT TO JACK COMING OUTSIDE TO TALK TO JOEY. ANDIE HAS LEFT.

JACK: Hey.

JOEY: Go away Jack.

JACK: Look Jo…I don’t know what my sister has been telling you…well I can guess…but Jo…this isn’t like all the other times.

JOEY: Please Jack…spare me. I think I’m a little more self aware then you think. I don’t believe for a minute that I’m any different then any of the other girls whose lives you have systematically destroyed.

JACK: It’s not like that Jo. Sure I’ve had my share of experiences with unavailable women…but it’s not like I dragged them kicking and screaming into my bed.

JOEY: No…but I’m sure you left them crying and broken hearted the minute your male ego was satisfied that you had won them over.

JACK: You don’t know what your talking about.

JOEY: Don’t I? Jack last night was not something I asked for…it was something you forced upon me.

JACK: And something you can’t get out of your mind…right? Jo I know that you were as affected by that encounter as I was.

JOEY IS COMPLETELY SILENT.

JACK: I’m right aren’t I?

JOEY: It doesn’t matter what you believe Jack…because these are the facts….I love Dawson. I have loved Dawson for…well forever and I am not about to let you or your blond co-hort screw that up for me.

JACK GRABS JOEY AND STARTS KISSING HER. JOEY START TO GIVE IN BUT AT LAST MINUTE FIGHTS IT AND BREAKS AWAY FROM HIM.

JOEY: Give it up Jack…it’s not gonna happen.

JOEY WALKS BACK INTO THE CAFETERIA TO LOOK FOR DAWSON. DAWSON HAS HEARD THE WHOLE CONVERSATION AND WALKS UP TO JACK.

DAWSON: What happened last night?

JACK: It’s none of your business.

JACK STARTS TO WALK AWAY. DAWSON GRABS HIS ARM AND PULLS HIM BACK.

JACK: I’m gonna have to ask you to let go of that.

DAWSON: Not until you give me some answers.

JACK: Maybe you should ask your girlfriend?

DAWSON: I’m asking you.

JACK: And to honor Joey’s wishes…I’m not providing any answers.

DAWSON SLUGS JACK AND HE GOES DOWN BUT QUICKLY GETS BACK UP AND STARTS THROWING PUNCHES. DAWSON AND JACK ARE DUKING IT OUT WHEN JOEY AND ANDIE COME RUNNING OUT OF SCHOOL.

JOEY: Dawson…stop! What are you doing? Stop!

ANDIE: Pacey…do something.

PACEY GETS IN BETWEEN THE TWO AND JACK SMACKS HIS FIST INTO HIS EYE.

PACEY: Jesus! (pulls Jack off of Dawson)

ANOTHER STUDENT HAS PULLED DAWSON OFF OF JACK. JOEY RUNS UP TO DAWSON.

JOEY: Dawson…are you okay?

JOEY STARTS TO TRY AND COMFORT DAWSON. DAWSON PULLS AWAY.

DAWSON: Don’t touch me Jo!

JOEY: Dawson…what’s wrong?

DAWSON: I can’t believe you Jo…your not the person I thought you were.

DAWSON GETS UP AND STARTS WALKING AWAY. JOEY STARTS TO GO AFTER HIM.

JOEY: Dawson…wait…whatever it is that has upset you like this…we can talk about it.

DAWSON: I don’t want to talk to you about this Jo…ever.

JEN WALKS UP TO DAWSON AND PUTS HER ARM AROUND DAWSON AND HE LETS HER.

JEN: We should go to the school nurse and get this eye looked at.

DAWSON: Thanks.

JOEY TURNS TO ANDIE AND PACEY.JOEY: (almost crying) What happened?

PACEY: I don’t know. After Andie came back inside Dawson went looking for you.

JOEY WALKS OVER TO JACK.

JOEY: What did you say to him Jack?

JACK: Great…you think this is all my fault? Your boy started it.

JOEY: I know Dawson, Jack he wouldn’t have hit you without a reason…What did you say to him?

JACK: Nothing…he already knew everything?

JOEY: You mean he knows about last night?

JACK: He heard us talking…he put two and two together…your right Jo that Dawson is a bright boy.

JOEY: You set me up Jack…didn’t you? You told Jen to send him out here.

JACK: No I didn’t….I swear.

JOEY: It doesn’t matter now. I’ve got to find Dawson before Jen does any more damage.

JOEY WALKS AWAY TO GO FIND DAWSON. CUT TO DAWSON AND JEN IN THE NURSE’SOFFICE.

DAWSON: Thanks for walking me over here Jen. You don’t have to stay.

JEN: I want to stay…besides I think you’ve got bigger problems then that eye. Do you want to talk about it?

DAWSON: Jack just knows how to shake the tree. I found out something and I lost my temper.

JEN: What did you find out?DAWSON: I found out that..

JOEY WALKS IN AND INTERRUPTS.

JOEY: Dawson…please don’t. Don’t involve Jen in this. This is our problem to deal with.

DAWSON: I can’t talk to you about this Joey.

JOEY: Oh…but you can talk to Jen…who will I’m sure paint me out to be the villain…when her role in this is not quite one of the innocent bystander.

DAWSON: What are you talking about?

JEN: Yeah what exactly are you implying?

JOEY: That you and Jack are in on this together. (turns to Dawson) Dawson Jack and Jen are trying to break us up…please don’t let that happen.

DAWSON: Why are you blaming this on everyone else? I didn’t see Jen pushing you up to Jack’s lips. You seemed pretty willing.

JOEY: Don’t believe everything you see Dawson. There’s a logical explanation. But we’re going to have to talk to each other for you to understand this.

SCHOOL NURSE WALKS OUT.

NURSE: Well Mr. Leery…you’ll live. I wouldn’t recommend a repeat performance anytime soon though.

DAWSON: Can I go back to class?

NURSE: Actually…I recommend that you head home for the day…cool down.

JEN: I’ll go with you Dawson.

JOEY: That’s okay Jen…I’ll take my boyfriend home. We no longer need your assistance.

JEN: Don’t you think that’s for Dawson to decide?

DAWSON: Stop it you two. (turns to Jen) I really appreciate your help and concern….but Joey’s right we have to work some things out.

JOEY SMILES SMUGGLY.

JEN: All right. But Dawson…if you ever need a friend…

DAWSON: I know…you're right next door.

JEN: And the door is always open.
