I said what you wanted to hear
and what I wanted to say
So I will take it back
Joey stopped what she was doing and just listened to the song coming from the stereo. She was so into the song that the world could have stopped turning and she wouldn't have noticed. The words spoke to her and reminded Joey of the recent changes in her relationship with Dawson.
It's easy to be
easy and free
when it doesn't mean anything
you remain selfless, cold, and composed
And that was the way Dawson was acting, cold and remote. It had been four weeks since that night and all their conversations consisted of was small talk. It was like a silent agreement that they would not even discuss what happened, like that kiss never took place. The saddest thing, was that movie night became a distant memory. Dawson would come up with some excuse and Joey would be too offended to say anything but okay. He didn't seem to care anymore and that hurt.
Come on baby now throw me
a right to the chin
don't just stare like
you never cared
I know you did
but you just smiled
like a bank teller
telling me blankly
have a nice life
She wanted to move on, but she missed him so bad and the closeness that they had shared that it took all Joey had in her not to cry. She wanted to get over him but keep their friendship, but she wondered for the first time if that was at all possible.
"What do I want?" She asked aloud, but no one answered back.
Joey heard the voice coming from behind her as she was wiping down tables, but didn't bother to turn around.
"Listen, just because you can no longer relieve you tension in locker rooms, doesn't mean you can come here and make my life a living hell. And loose the deep voice Pacey, I can tell it's you."
With that she turned around to find a guy looking at her with an amused expression on his face. It was the same guy who had run into her a month ago. After that she had seen him around school, but still couldn't figure out where she had seen him before. He was very cute and reminded her of Antonio Sabato Jr. and every time she saw him in school she would push the thought out of her mind. Yet is was hard to do so now with him so close she could smell his cologne.
"Hugo," she mutterd without knowing it.
He looked at her strangely, "What?"
"Your cologne.............. it's Hugo," though all he gave her was another strange look. "Never mind, look I'm sorry about that, I thought that you were someone else."
"Don't be Joey, I shouldn't have sneaked up on you like that."
She was about to say something else when a thought stopped her cold, "how do you know my name?" With each word she distanced herself from him.
He looked sheepish, " we used to go to school together, in 7th grade. I'm Andrew Mitchell."
Joey thought back to 7th grade and suddenly remembered him.
He smiled, obviously happy that she remembered who he was.
"I remember how you used to sit at you desk and draw in that portfolio of yours." She spoke almost wistfully, truth be told she had admired his passion for drawing and had a crush on him back then. *Before Dawson that is* she thought.
"I remember that you and Dawson are close you two never make a move without the other. I was a little jealous of him then."
Joey looked far away, "we were close, but why were you jealous?"
Andrew looked down at the floor. " I was envious of the relationship you had and I also........had a crush on you."
All Joey could do was blush because of her previous thoughts, she was about to tell him that she had felt the same way when he spoke again.
"I'm sorry to cut this short but I have to go and help out my dad. I really want to catch up with you, so................would you mind going with me to the cafe tonight?"
" I have to work again tonight, but yes I would like to, just pick me up here at seven."
A smile spread across his face, "okay, see you then."
She waited until he was out of sight, *Joey Potter what have you gotten yourself into?*
Okay people, you know the drill, please tell me what you think.
