Disclaimer: Don't own Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Jen, Jack, or Andie. But I do own Juliana, (have for quite some time now,) Jaqueline, and Dee. And I shamelessly plagiarized the "Broken Road" scene from "Breaking Away". I confess, I altered it so it would fit my story. Oh, and "On My Own" belongs to the lyric people for "Les Miserables".

A few more weeks had gone by, but very slowly for Dawson Leery. From what Joey had done to him, then see her playing tonsil hockey with Jack, and with his parents having an open relationship, he was slowly dying inside. His once perfect fairy-tale world had now turned to a world of heartbreak and nightmare. But he didn't know Joey had broken up with Jack, and Jack, in pursuit of his infatuation, was obsessed with winning Joey back.

One bleek day, when he came home from school, he found a note addressed to him, Dawson himself:

Dawson,
I know you must be mad at me, but meet me at the ruins at 7:00. I have something to tell you.

Joey

And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me

In the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever

Dawson sighed, and even though he was putting his entire being on the line, he knew he had to go.

At 6:53, Joey arrived at the ruins, only to find Jack, (you know I'm shuddering just at the mention of his name.)

"Joey!!!!!" he exclaimed.

"Jack, will you do me the biggest favor and get the hell out of here???!!!"

"No, Joey, I won't..." Jack replied, and seeing Dawson come made his plan perfect. He grabbed Joey by the shirt and kissed her with all his might.

And I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there's a way for us

Dawson had a sudden mix of emotions as he saw Joey and Jack kissing. When Joey broke away, he said to her, "Is this why you wanted me to come, Joey?????? So that you could give me proof that you and Jack are together???"

"Dawson, please-"

"Well, I don't want to hear it," he said, his voice breaking.

"Dawson, WAIT!!!!!!!!" But it was too late. He had already started to run off. As she started to go after him, she heard Jack ask her, "Are you in love with him, Joey?"

She turned around and looked at him. "I don't know what I am." (This scanerio seems familiar...)

I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone
The river's just a river
Without him
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers

The camera follows Dawson and Joey around, Dawson looking depressed, and Joey, desperate to find him.

I love him
But everyday I'm learning
All my life
I've only been pretending
Without me
His world would go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known
